good sax, great sound, cant beat the price. Jul 04, 2009
By L i play many insruments in my free time, in the past 20 yrs i have went through about 5 saxophones. from 50$ to 500$, from alto to tenor, all used, never had a new sax. so i saw this on musicians friend w a used price of 256, and did a quick google search for a musicans friend coupon code, and got an extra 30 off, and with a 45 day garuntee. thinking im taking a huge gamble with my time, i could not be more pleased. first thing i noticed was how easy it is to play, and how full of a sound it has. i have never sounded so good on sax. its very well built, nice wieght, all around good sax, esp for beginners. pads fit very snugg, keys respond very well, sometimes when you see lacquered sax, its not impressive at all, dull shine and cheap apperance, not the case here, this is a case of a musical instrument price going down, not the quality. i have hung out in music stores since the 80s, this quality, this price, wasnt availible even in the 90s. in my first 2 days im thrilled, will add an update in a couple of months.
update,, still love it, so easy to play, rich full sound/ i love it!

Good value... BUT.... Jun 01, 2010
By Army Family My husband and I have both played saxophone since we were young... our children are starting now. This saxophone looks great, and we both tried it out and it was a nice instrument. Great price... can't beat it!
**Edited to add:**
I think it important to add one vital fact I was not aware of when I purchased this instrument:
It is a FIRST ACT instrument... i.e. if it breaks, you cannot fix it. Research this prior to deciding if this saxophone is for you.
It is still working well for us, but I am wary because I would not have deliberately purchased a "throw-away" instrument. I suppose for the price, it's still doable-- even two of these is still less than most other saxes I found, but First Act is not generally considered a good thing amongst musicians.

I'm pleased with it Feb 27, 2010
By James B. Ross I've been playing clarinet and decided to try a sax. I was hesitant about buying an inexpensive sax. But I'm well pleased with this one. It's easier to play than my clarinet, and sounds great. It's a heavy horn and appears to me to be quite well built. Everything works on it and it doesn't appear to be flimsy at all. It has some pretty good sound. At least for me as a raw beginner.
You can't beat it at this price, and it even comes with a nice case too.

HORRIBLE QUALITY!!!! Aug 26, 2010
By jerry so i decided to buy this saxophone becuase i play several instruments. the first couple of days it worked like gold but then a month later it broke two keys fell off and were unable to be repeaired because of the cheap quality! everytime i play it it is way to high i cant even use it in college band because it cant do the notes becauses it only plays a high g a b and c all the other notes squeek this is a horrible product never buy this waste of money! i could not return it because the company said it was my fault the keys broke so now im out $250 so dont buy this!
Etude alto sax is a piece of junk. Oct 06, 2011
By M. Ellis I told a friend to order it for her beginning daughter. It looked nice and was so cheap. I am a sax player and I tried it out. First, I had to adjust a screw so it would play. The cork was the wrong size for the mouthpiece. Most importantly, it has a terrible sound, is terribly out of tune, the low notes do not seal, the high notes are not in pitch. Do not buy this horn.
