 Great looking & functioning stand Sep 03, 2009

I got this to display a saxophone on figuring it would also make me practice more. The stand functions great and also looks good. It works well with both my alto and tenor and considering it's one of the best stands and only a few dollars more expensive, this seems quite reasonable as well.

The Hercules Alto sax stand is exactly what I had in mind. It is easy to adjust, is sturdy, and keeps the instrument safely in position.

My daughter is a 5th Grader and chose to play Alto Saxophone. I bought the stand as a Christmas gift so that she could place the instrument in the stand when she needed to take a break while practicing at home. The top bracket cradles the bell of the horn, while the bottom bracket provides lower support just above the "bend," holding the horn in place on the stand. The tri-pod legs provide secure support - it would take a lot to knock the stand over. However, because the stand does not offer any type of security strap, it is more likely the horn would be knocked off. This should not be a concern in most environments (though I'd prefer her to carry it during the elementary band concert!). The Amazon price was a good deal, but shipping brought the total investment close to what I'd pay at my local music shop. The Amazon deal included a free carry bag, making it the better option.

I did not receive this item, it was back ordered. Although I was not notified, I was able to contact the company at the number listed and they promptly credited me. I was able to order a different stand in time for delivery for Christmas.

The stand is fine - it holds the Sax very well, etc.
Minor annoyance: The description says it includes a small storage bag for the stand. There is no bag.
Two fairly major annoyances:
1. While this item did arrive within the ETA window, I think it is wrong to purposely delay shipment just because expedited shipment wasn't selected.
2. The stand was not shipped in a box. It was shipped in its retail packaging, which is not durable enough. But worse by son could tell what I'd ordered - I had hoped to surprise him with it.
