This is a very well-designed stand, and perfectly suits the needs of an alto/soprano player. It should also work great for soprano/tenor, as the bow rest is adjustable for height.
The stand's sturdiness and fold-ability make it a pleasure to both use and carry, and you can mount the peg on ether side of your curved sax, or add a second peg. Plus, it's priced right.
The stand does, however, have one small--but fixable--flaw. The bell rest on the soprano peg is adjustable so that you can get a nice fit, with the padded ball gently in the body of the sax, while the bell rests on the lower support. However, the support is locked in place by a friction cam lock, which is not tight enough. As a result, the bell support keeps dropping until the entire weight of the sax is born on the padded ball within the body. Not good.
The fix is simply to decide where you want to lock the cam, and then apply a narrow length of tape (I used vinyl electrical tape)around the peg shaft at that spot. This effectively takes up the excess clearance and locks the adjustment in. No more slipping--even with my very heavy Selmer S80 S3.

I see more and more musicians using Hercules stands these days. I have mine for alto/ soprano combination which was very hard to find from other brands. This stand is featherlight but very sturdy and stayable. Also it beats the competitors with the very reasonable price (under $30).
Fits Yamaha alto w/ ONE-PIECE key guard Dec 31, 2011

My Yamaha alto sax with a one-piece key guard did not sit securely in my old Hamilton stand, my old LaVoz alto sax stand or even my new K&M alto/tenor stand. None of these could be adjusted so that they did not hit the key guard or the low C# key on my Yamaha. I took a chance on this Hercules stand without trying it first (lack of woodwind music shops out here). The Hercules has a slidable lower rest instead of only being adjustable in fixed steps. This allowed me to adjust it to fit right between the tone hole and the key guard, touching only the horn's body at the bell to bow junction. It's a close fit so I'll have to be careful to not bang the key out of alignment when placing my horn in the stand but at least it fits. Your only other option may be to buy one of those Yamaha specific stands for your horn. This stand is sturdy and well built as well.

This saxophone stand is exactly what I need. I purchased it because of its ability to include a soprano stand, and it works great! It folds up nicely and is very sturdy. The price is reasonable, too. Good buy for me.
