Rico reed case Jun 22, 2009

I like the reed case, and find it very useful. However its a little bigger then I thought it would be. About 4'in x4'in and almost 1'in thick. I was also worried that it would be made of cheap plastic, but its pretty solid and thick. It's air tight and seems durable.
Hope this helps someone, I was worried about paying $25 bucks and disliking it, because I couldn't really find anyone who has wrote about it.

Keeps Reeds in "ready to go" condition. Jul 04, 2010

Purchased this case for my daughter. She plays Clainet. We live in Arizona where the humidity can get down to as low as 2% which can dry out, warp and damage reeds. During the Monsoon season it can get really humid. We have both extremes here, but mostly low humidity.
The case comes with a 73% RH packet which keeps reeds in "nearly" ready to play condition. Places the reed in lips for a few seconds and its ready to go.
Currently she is using Vandoren and Rico Select reeds.
The case is well made and you can use the case without the humidity control pack.
The only complaint my daughter has that it doesn't fit inside the clarinet case--to be honest, other than the cleaning kit and cork grease, what does fit inside most clarinet cases!! (LOL) So, you will have to carry the clarinet Rico Reed Case in a large pocket, briefcase, backpack or purse. (My son has the Alto sax version and it fits inside the storage compartment of the instrument case.)
The case is about half the price on Amazon compared to local music stores ($22 - $28).
